Equal-Weight BTC Dominance
Bitcoin dominance as if every coin counted the same, not by its size. Bitcoin against an equal-weight basket of the 124 largest alts (125 coins), each side starting at half on 1 Jan 2016. Rising means Bitcoin is beating the typical alt; falling means the typical alt is beating Bitcoin.
How it is built
- Same shape as BTC dominance:
BTC ÷ (BTC + alts). In the normal chart each side is its market cap, so ETH alone is about a third of the alt side. Here every alt is the same size. - The alt side: on the first day of each month, the 124 largest alts by market cap that day, each given an equal share, held through the month. Ranked as of that day, so coins that were large and later died are included. Prices are against Bitcoin, from CoinMarketCap daily snapshots.
- The start: Bitcoin and the alt basket each hold half on 1 Jan 2016, so the line starts at 50%.
- Monthly, not daily, rebalancing: a daily reset turns every one-day pump-and-dump (103 moves above +200% in a day, mostly thin 2016 coins) into a permanent gain for the alt side. Held for the month, a spike that reverses cancels out.
- One data rule: a coin priced under 1e-12 BTC is left out of the pick. That is rounding, not a price: INNBCL read ×255,036 in June 2020 and alone took the line from 56% to 0.03%. Only INNBCL and BabyDoge ever fall under it.
